Administrative Manager - Part-time, approximately 16 hours/week

Position Summary

CHEER is seeking an administration manager to develop and assist in implementing administrative operations policies and practices and conducting office and financial management. CHEER is an innovative and growing community based nonprofit that
conducts community organizing, health, youth development, community development and civic participation programs and activities. CHEER employs a staff of 12 part time employees and a larger number of volunteers. This position requires 16 hours per


Duties and responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)

  • Negotiate and Manage service contracts for administrative needs

  • Participate in developing office and administrative procedures and practices to facilitate efficient administrative operations.

  • Oversee and participate in implementation of office and administrative policies and procedures.

  • Assist in processing payroll and entering financial information into spreadsheets and Quickbooks bookkeeping software.

  • Prepare invoices on grants and assemble documentation needed for program reporting.

  • Organize files and papers so that items and information can be retrieved and information and correspondence goes to the correct person.

  • Purchase supplies, materials and services as needed in the CHEER office, including telephone and internet service.

  • Participate in CHEER biweekly coordination meetings. 

  • At meetings take note of decisions made at bi-weekly coordination meeting, enter them into project management software or otherwise make these accessible for follow up and coordination.

  • Assist in preparing for and conducting CHEER events.

  • Maintain and manage CHEER communication lists

  • Answer phone calls, take messages, share information as needed.

  • Respond to office visitors to share information with clients/visitors as needed

  • Supervise office volunteers when needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned 


  • Strong organization and management abilities

  • Good customer service skills: professional, friendly, and cheerful manner.

  • Familiarity with and commitment to supporting CHEER August 9, 2018

  • Resident of or strong connection to the Long Branch Takoma Park community

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

  • Experience with book keeping concepts and practices, and tools, such as Quickbooks

  • Capability with Software

  • Knowledge of office and administration concepts, tools and technology


This is a salaried position compensated at $16,640 per year ($20 per hour for 16 hours per week). This position offers comp time and two weeks of paid time off, but no health or retirement benefits.
