Welcome to CHEER

This blog entry is the first for Community Health and Empowerment through Education and Research (CHEER). The blog is intended to be a forum for sharing observations, measures, research, and findings on the quality of life in the neighborhoods of Takoma Park and Long Branch.

It will also detail and chronicle CHEER’s dynamic process of community-based participatory democracy. The elements of this process include observation, engagement, visioning, research and action. I hope that the posts and comments in this blog will inform and empower individuals, broaden and strengthen community connections, and inspire actions that will improve the quality of life for all community members.
