CHEER Community Association’s 2015 Mayoral and Council Candidate Forums

As part of our ongoing Civic Engagement Campaign, and in advance of the 2015 Takoma Park City elections on Tuesday November 3rd, CHEER Community Association has collaborated with local neighborhood and tenant associations to organize a mayoral and council candidate forum in ward 4 (on October 20), ward 5 (On October 22), and ward 6 (October 27). The goal of these forums is to increase civic engagement and participation among renters and youth in the City, provide a platform for renters and candidates to have a dialogue as candidates become aware of renters issues, and increase voter registration and participation among renters in the City.

The three forums are co-sponsored by the Park Ritchie Apartments Tenants Association whose forum will be held on October 20th (7600 Maple Ave), Essex House Apartments Tenants Association whose forum will be held on October 22nd (7777 Maple Ave), and Hampshire Gardens Citizens Association whose forum will be held on October 27th at the Takoma Park Recreacation Center (7513 New Hampshire Ave). all events start at 7 pm. Voter registration will be available at each event, and we encourage all community members to attend one of the meetings.

CHEER will provide continuous support to implement the recommendations voiced at the forums through CHEER Community Association, the Youth Collaborative, volunteers and partner organizations.
