Volunteer to be our Fundraising Planner!

VOLUNTEER POSITION

Fundraising Planner

Introduction

CHEER is an innovative and growing community-based nonprofit serving the Long Branch/Takoma Park community.  We act as a facilitator and a catalyst in generating community driven activities to fulfill community defined goals

Activities

Learn about CHEER programs and activities and help them grow!  This opportunity invites the fundraising planning volunteer to take the lead in developing fundraising plans which help increase sustainable donor support for CHEER.  Write strategic fundraising plans which build donor support and engage donors creatively to increase financial support for CHEER projects and activities

Impact of Fundraising Planner

Funds received as a result of the fundraising plans directly benefit:

  • Accessible and Healthy Food – provides 12 weeks of produce and health advice for participants who have Type II diabetes and are also food insecure

  • Assess to the Affordable Care Act – State of Maryland and Montgomery County discontinued funding, new funds are needed to continue serving local residents

  • Summer Youth Program – provides free lunches and engaging activities for youth (MCPS provides the lunches).  Some funds provided by Montgomery County

  • Housing and Community Development: funds raised expands on ‘seed’ funds CHEER received to prepare the Long Branch community for the new Purple Line station

  • Giving Tuesday and the End of Year Fund Appeal – a plan is needed for these two campaigns, which take place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and by the end of the year so that general funds can be raised to meet emerging needs and projects

  • Takoma Park Folk Festival in September and the Takoma Park Street Fair in October of each year are opportunities to raise funds which can be improved
