CHEER currently hosts 2 food distributions. These food distributions include the Takoma Park Culturally Appropriate Food Distribution  and the Community Food Assistance (CFA). Our food distributions not only provide things like fresh fruits and vegetables to Long Branch and Takoma Park residents, but they also create a valuable space for the sharing of community input, resources, and events.  

 

•  ​​Community Food Assistance Program (CFA): The Community Food Assistance (CFA) program provides over 300 families with a $35 monthly credit to purchase fresh food at the Crossroads Farmers Market or the Community Farmshare Mobile Market. This innovative initiative improves local food access by utilizing a free-choice model that empowers participants to select their own healthy produce. During the winter months, the program transitions to delivering curated boxes of fresh produce from Hungry Harvest.

• ​Takoma Park Culturally Appropriate Food Distribution: The Takoma Park Culturally Appropriate Food Distribution program gives 80 participants a $45 monthly credit to shop at either the Crossroads Farmers Market or Adarash Market. This targeted initiative focuses on connecting residents with familiar, culturally meaningful foods that match their dietary traditions. Beyond increasing food security, the program fosters a stronger, more inclusive neighborhood by building lasting connections between community members.
