VOTE in 2016!

The 2016 General Election is on Tuesday November 8, 2016! Are you registered to vote? Is your voter registration up to date? Here’s what you need to know…

Voter Registration

Voter registration is free. In order to register, you must be a U.S. citizen, live in Montgomery County, and be at least 18 years old on or before November 8th.

Voter registration applications are available at county libraries, regional service centers, all offices of Montgomery County Health & Human Services, MD Department of Motor Vehicles, and U.S. Post Offices. For more information, to verify your voter registration information, or to download a voter registration application to mail to the Board of Elections, call 240-777-VOTE, or visit Montgomery County Board of Elections’ website or their office Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 5pm at 18753 N. Frederick Ave, Suite 210, Gaithersburg, MD.

Montgomery County citizens who want to vote in the 2016 presidential general election must submit their completed voter registration application by 9pm on Tuesday October 18 2016, and mailed voter registration applications must be postmarked by October 18, 2016.

Voting

Early voting centers are open from October 27 – November 3, from 8am – 8pm at 10 different Montgomery County locations. Any registered voter can cast a ballot at any one of these sites.

Any registered voter who wants to vote by mail can request an application if you have a MD driver’s license or MVA issued ID card. Your application requesting a ballot by mail must be received by November 1, 2016. If you request to cast a ballot by mail, it will be your official ballot, so you won’t be able to vote at the polls on Election Day (November 8), or during Early Voting (October 27 – November 3).

In MD you can request a different polling place than where you are assigned if you have accessibility concerns, or your religious principles make your assigned polling place unacceptable. If you have these issues, they can also be addressed by voting at an early voting center or voting by mail.
